The International Music Competition "Grand Prize Virtuoso" is open to all nationalities and ages in strings, piano, wind, vocal and chamber music. Participants are required to submit video materials for the jury audition. Recording should be a fair representation of the contestants' abilities, but don't need to be of a professional quality.




The audition for the jury will be evaluated through video/audio materials presented by each participant. A panel of judges evaluates and punctuates the video material submitted, and the final selections of winners is based solely on the same recordings submitted. Judges are independent, and their students are not allowed to play at the competition.




From 90 to 100: 1st prize (100/100: 1st Absolute Prize)

From 80 to 89: 2nd prize

From 70 to 79: 3rd prize







A selected group of winners will receive an invitation to debut at Auditorium Parco della Musica, Teatro Studio, Rome on December 18, 2018. The most important auditorium in Italy. The Parco della Musica was formally inaugurated in December 2002; in few years it became Europe's most visited cultural music venue in the world, after Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City.


All other winners 1st, 2nd, 3rd will receive their diploma by mail.


If for any reason you are unable to attend and perform at the Awards Ceremony we will send the certificate by post.


The selected winners will receive a set of digital professional photos (for free), a medal and a certificate/diploma.


Special Awards


A special award for the "Best Italian Musician" will be awarded to the best participant from Italy.. International students who don't have the Italian nationality will not be chosen as a cadidate for this special award.

Any classical music period (baroque, romantic, classicism, contemporany etc.)




Multiple winners can be chosen in each of the following age groups. Time limits are approximate, and shorter or longer videos are admitted.

    13 – 15 years old

    16 – 18 years old


     8 minutes (approximately)

    19 years old and older

(Piano four hands, piano duo, mixed ensambles etc.)

  • Inscription Fees for duo participants in all categories are reduced to 125 euros per person (please click here 
  • Inscription Fees for trio, quartet and quintet participants are reduced to 110 euros per person (please click here)



General Rules


1. Incomplete applications including failure to pay fees will result in disqualification.


2. The material provided will not be returned and the inscription fee is not refundable.


3. The judges' decision is final and unappealable. The comments and scores of the jury will not be provided.


4. Winners are responsible for their own expenses (travel, housing accomodation etc.)


5. During the Awards Ceremony participants waive all right to television broadcasting remunarations. And non financial remunaration for their performance.


6. The competition is not resposible for any damage or theft.


7. Children under 18 years old will be responsibility of their parents or legal guardians. And must be supervised all the time by their parents or legal guardians.


8. “Grand Prize Virtuso” International Music Competition reserves the right to make any changes in the rules, schedule or other information related to the competition.
